MEMS Power Generation specialise in the hire of diesel generators and operate an extensive transportation fleet to deliver and position these heavy items of plant. Our belief is that we have an environmental obligation to reduce our CO2 emissions and are using this opportunity to help tackle global climate change by offsetting all in-house emissions. We also offer the facility for our customers to offset the carbon footprint created when the diesel is burnt during generator hire. MEMS are the first generator hire company to offer this facility; the beginning of our initiatives to provide a positive impact on the environment and further reduce our carbon footprint.
WHAT IS CARBON NEUTRAL?
Whenever fossil fuels are burnt they create carbon emissions which are believed by many experts to have a negative effect on the environment and increase global warming, fossil fuels are used extensively in the generation industry as the prime movers are predominantly diesel engines. Add to this the emissions created by the delivery vehicles and vans the carbon footprint created when generating power can be substantial; to reverse the effect MEMS create we have entered into a carbon offsetting program to reverse our carbon footprint and bring our impact back to zero.
OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS MEMS DELIVER
- Generators are fitted with double skinned fuel tanks, and specialised connectors
- Bulk fuel tanks are double skinned and feature a high level feed point
- Custom designed road fuel tankers are equipped with self sealing, leak-proof hoses and accessories
- Waste is disposed of by specialist contractors providing certification
- MEMS operators are trained by an independent company specialising in the handling of hazardous substances
- Equipment complies with Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001
