500kVA RENTAL UNITS
A £1m order has been awarded to Cummins Power Generation for the supply of new 500kVA rental generators to further enhance their fleet profile at this key power node. The 500kVA node has always been a key business area for MEMS as they provide a very specialist solution including set to set paralleling and utility synchronising facilities all as standard. These units have been designed and constructed to be carried and self offloaded by our own 60 ton crane lorries allowing a very small footprint size for the kVA rating. This order will take MEMS fleet at this size to in excess of 50 units all to the same specification.
ROAD TOW GENERATORSMEMS have placed a further order for rental generating sets although this time as road towable units constructed on purpose built trailers. These 40kVA units will predominantly be used to support MEMS numerous Utility clients although they will also be used to support their extensive and rapidly growing customer portfolio. These units have been ordered from Bruno Generators in Italy and will arrive on the fleet in August 2007.
100kVA RENTAL UNITS A further order has been issued to Cummins Power Generation for the supply of 100kVA XRS spec rental generators. These units are purpose build for the rental market and have been optimised for MEMS by utilising additional components to suit their specialised requirements. These units will be joining the fleet in July 2007
12,000 LITRE FUEL TANKER
A new purpose built 12,000 litre road going fuel tanker is currently in construction and will be delivered and placed into operation late this year to join the existing fuel tanker fleet. MEMS holds in stock over 120,000 litres of diesel fuel to supply its rapidly growing rental fleet. With some of the larger rental units burning 200 litres per hour fuel cost control and availability of supply are extremely important when choosing a supplier. MEMS provide a complete re-fuelling solution utilising its own tanker fleet and control telemetry to ensure fuel is always available 24/7.
NRSWA VEHICLE
A new service for MEMS is the supply of signing and guarding for any equipment required to operate in the public highway. The new service will be rolled out from August 2007 and this purpose built vehicle will be stocked with all the necessary signs etc to support our rental equipment.
LAND ROVER
A further 4 x 4 off-road vehicle joins the fleet in October to assist the other units.
1050kVA - 1250kVA
As from June 2007 4 x 1050kVA and 2 x 1250kVA Supersilent generators will join the rental fleet, these units will be housed in 40’ ISO style containers as per our existing 1250kVA rental sets providing an extremely quiet solution at this kVA range. The paralleling control systems interface with the remainder of our larger rental products ensures that we are able to provide major power solutions should the need arise.
50kVA - 250kVA
As from May 2007 50 additional rental generators will also be added to the fleet; these units are FG Wilson Pro Rental Range and match our existing fleet profile. This order will take our total fleet to in excess of 300 units.
HGV TRAILERS
Due to our growth in the larger rental ranges we have further invested into HGV Artic trailers with the purchase of 7 articulated trailers bringing the total fleet to 21 trailers.
CRANE LORRIES
July and August 2007 will see the arrival of 2 x additional 60 ton crane lorries joining the HGV fleet, MEMS already operate one of the most comprehensive crane lorry fleets in the UK and with this further investment extend their operating ability even further. This increases the fleet size to 11 highly specialised trucks bespoke built for our generator rental division.
CABLE
With the growth in the larger rental ranges MEMS have invested a further £250,000 into flexible rental cable increasing their already huge cable stocks, this is supported by cable covers, distribution equipment, temporary fencing and power connectors all available from stock.
OUR NEW 4x4 LANDROVER PROVIDES ADDITIONAL GENERATOR SUPPORT
January has seen the addition of a further landrover 4x4 utility vehicle. This vehicle has been added to MEMS transport fleet to further enhance our commitment in generator support. Complete with an all terrain design and heavy duty winching facilities, this vehicle further improves MEMS ability to deliver and recover generators from off-road environments. This type of vehicle is also used to tow our numerous fuel bowsers for smaller deliveries of diesel.
4 NEW 1250kVA UNITS ARE FIRST TO ARRIVE IN 2007
The MEMS rental fleet has grown further as from January 2007 with the addition of 4 x 1250kVA rental generators. 2 of these units will be housed within purpose built 40' ISO style containers complete with bulk fuel storage for 24 hours running providing a total packaged solution to meet very low noise levels. The remaining 2 machines are housed within 20' ISO containers and have been designed and constructed to achieve the highest power rating possible within this very small footprint size. These units fit in line with all current fleet having control systems with the ability to be synchronised to the mains either in utility phase locking mode or via conventional methods. They also have the capability for set to set parallel running for up to eight machines. This is a new power node for the MEMS rental fleet and shows our commitment to increasing the specialised nature of our services as we proceed to build our portfolio of products for rental.
800KVA POWER UNITS JOIN THE FLEET
Four new 800kVA Power Units complete with paralleling facilities and full load shedding controls have joined the rental fleet. These bespoke built containers have been constructed to achieve very low noise levels and have been mounted onto modified low loader 20' Artic trailers to assist placement of the equipment into tight locations. Each unit is fitted with its own double skinned bulk fuel tank complete with remote monitoring equipment to provide telemetry back to the 24 hour control room in Gillingham. This feature is standard across the MEMS rental fleet and provides real-time telemetry of the numerous system control parameters as well as the obvious security benefits that come with location monitoring. The design of these units mirrors our existing 1000kVA rental modules and will soon be extended to our new 1500kVA Power Units which will be housed within 40' ISO style containers mounted onto Artic trailers.
MORE KIT ARRIVES
MEMS further expands its generator rental fleet with the main area of focus being on larger equipment; an additional 1000kVA machine has just been delivered and will be ready for the Christmas period with further rental spec machines due in early January.
The current focus on larger units is mainly too reinforce our position as the supplier of choice for quality highly specified rental generators. 95% of MEMS rental machines above 250kVA are complete with mains synchronising capabilities as well as set-to-set paralleling controls. Both are areas of expertise for the company with in-house training on the various modes of synchronisation a prerequisite for all MEMS technicians.
This is the first phase of a capital investment strategy that will continue into 2007 with the generator rental fleet expecting to exceed 300 units fairly shortly. To support the generators MEMS have also invested into an additional 20,000m of rental cable in various sizes as well as further bulk fuel tanks. This takes the total rental cable stocks to in excess of 80,000m in the various sizes and specifications available.
